settlers came to this part of Georgia. Creek Indians once
believed the water healed their sick and brought extra vigor
to the healthy. Two major treaties with the Creeks were
signed in the vicinity, ceding millions of acres of land
to the federal government. Open to the public since 1825,
the park includes a small museum that operates in summer.
